Engagement Party + OOTN

Love is in the air.

A very close friend, who is basically family, and his now fiancé held their engagement party at the Carlyle Hotel in Upper East Manhattan. The hotel itself is gorgeous and had a 1940s glam feeling. It felt like I was in an episode of Gossip Girl for the night.

Here, I am pictured with Geoff (left) and Matt (right). The lovely couple met at a social event last January and it’s been love ever since.

I am aware that gay marriage is not fully accepted in many parts of the world, but I find that love is love. Period.

Please do not leave hateful commentary for this is just my opinion.

As for my outfit, I chose to wear a sleek tux-like jacket as a dress with shorts underneath (so there’s no wardrobe malfunctions). I paired it with sheer black polka-dot tights for a more playful look. For the shoes I chose a chunky pair of black sandals because I love the socks with heels look.

New Year’s Eve Makeup Look

I am not a makeup artist or guru or anything crazy involved in makeup. This is just to show you what products I use and their results. Let me know any thoughts or criticisms for I am still trying to learn new makeup techniques.

I don’t wear eyeshadow on a daily basis. When I do, Too Face’s Chocolate Bar Palette is really all I ever use. I am very simple when it comes to blending colors so I took Milk Chocolate and put it in my crease. Since it was New Year’s Eve, I decided to go for glitter, so I used Marzipan for the lid and extended it to the inner corners. I extended it even more to about a quarter of my lower lash line. Next, I used Semi-Sweet for the outer corner, and lastly I used Haute Chocolate to complete the lower lash line.

That is all for shadow. I then did a simple eyeliner wing, put on some mascara and lower waterline eyeliner, and filled in my brows with a pencil and some tinted brow gel.

I am so lazy when it comes to my face. Basically, I apply one thing on then blend it with a beauty blender, then apply the next product and use the same beauty blender. Before so, I spray Mario Badescu’s Facial Rose Water Facial Spray on my face and on the beauty blender. So in order I used Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation , which is my all time fave. A little goes a long way with this stuff.

My next fave is the Frank Body Lip & Cheek Tint in Cherry Bomb; I use this in replace of blush because it’s cream-based. I have very dry skin, if you didn’t read my Winter Skincare post, so I try to use cream-based or hydrating products like the Milk Makeup Highlighter. I carry this highlighter with me at all times. Its hydrating formula contains mango butter, coconut oil, and avocado oil. It doesn’t clog my pores and it blends easily. For extra New Year’s glam I lightly dust Tarte’s Tartiest PRO glow to go highlighter over the Milk one and just a little bronzer for some added glow.

My favorite part of this whole look is the lips. My new thing is nude or pinkish-nude lipliners with lipgloss. It makes your lips look plump and full. Here, I used NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner in Cannes, which is a beautiful ashy pink, and a Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian. DSCN4143

Please ket me know what you think about this look. Share any makeup posts in the comments and I’ll be glad to take a look!

Winter Skincare Routine

This winter so far has been extremely cold, so my dry skin is not loving this weather. As I am writing, it is 19 degrees Fahrenheit here in New York and blizzarding outside. I have had eczema my whole life and as I got older it spread from just my inner legs and elbows to almost my whole body and face. I suffered from inflamed acne like most teens all throughout high school and my first year of college. Each year the dry parts of my face kept getting drier and the oily parts kept getting oilier. I experimented with numerous moisturizers, face masks, toners, exfoliants, etc.

I finally went to the dermatologist, which was a mistake not to go in the first place. She gave me sample acne creams that worked for a couple of weeks. I also got prescribed cream for my facial eczema, which worked wonders. I am not all for prescriptions, but this one really helps a lot. Lastly, my derm told me to stop using whatever I was putting on my face and stick to something mild like Cetaphil.

My skin transformed immediately. I get the occasional pimple here and there, however, I had plenty of scarring all over my cheeks and forehead. I used Vitamin E oil every other day and the scarring gradually just vanished. I applied it every morning and night every day for about two months until they were completely gone. Now I use a small amount every night for moisture and radiance.

I used to wash my face two to three times a day, but that was drying my skin out way too much. I now wash my face every night with coconut oil (not shown because I ran out) because it is hydrating and contains some anti-bacterial properties. If i have a lot of makeup on I massage the oil into my skin and wipe it off with a damp towel and continue the process until my face is completely clean. I use Kiehl’s Ultra Moisturizing Cream in the morning and night. Twice a week I use an actual cleanser, mostly the Cetaphil Body and Face Cleanser, for an extra clean. Once a week, I use the Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask by Bliss, and about everyday I spritz the Mario Badescu Facial Spray for a little pick-me-up. Every single day, I use the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream after I shower. This cream is unscented and extremely hydrating; I highly recommend it for anyone who has eczema because may body creams are scented and irritating. Some days I will use it on my face since it has a non-oily formula.

I received the Marcelle 3-in-1 LumiPOWER Moisturizer in a Birchbox, which I use as an eye cream everyday. I am very satisfied with the results, so I am going to purchase the full bottle once the sample runs out. I keep the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula by my bed for when I notice any dry spots, mostly on my hands. I keep the L’occitane Shea Butter Hand Creamwith me when I am on the go plus it smells amazing. Lastly, my lip must be moisturized at all times. I use this Kiehl’s Lip Balm most of the time and it has a glossy formula, so it completes my everyday makeup look.

I do not fully recommend every product because everyone has different skin types. This is what works for my skin, and this post is to just share what products I like. Thank you for visiting!

Date Night Outfit + My Sister/BFF’s Band Performance

Hey guys! So my sister and my best friend of 10 years formed a little band, originally as a hobby. They wound up playing for local bars and last night was their first restaurant venue, so my boyfriend and I came for support and some dinner and drinks.

The band is called The MJ’s (Meghan + Jonna + James). James is the drummer who plays at some of their shows depending on what kind of music the owner of the venue wants. I volunteered to run their social media and communicate with new venue owners, so please feel free to follow them and show your support!

Halloweekend Costumes ‘17

Currently, I am on my way to the movie theater to see Jigsaw in the spirit of Halloween.

On Friday, my siblings and our friends decided to all go to this annual Halloween party held at the Vanderbilt. There was a DJ, prizes for best (..) costume, cocktail hour, and a full dinner and desert served.

My boyfriend and I dressed as Day of the Dead bride and groom. My dress is from Rachel Roy.  The rose headband and gloves are from Spirit. The pearls are my mom’s, and the bag and red velvet boots are from my own closet.

The next night I went to a friend’s Halloween party. Wednesday Addams is such a cute and easy costume for a last minute event. Everything I wore I had previously owned. My sister attempted to be Pugsley lol.

What is your Halloween costume this year?

1st Annual Halloween Party ’17

My siblings and I hosted our very first annual Halloween Party and it was a big hit with my sister on the speaker and me on the camera. We hung up a large poster, where I photographed all the guests.

Here are a few of our costumes and tell me what you guys think!

Solider, Fortune Teller, Freddy Kreuger, SWAT

I was a fortune teller. Everything but the dress, which is from Lucky Brand, was already in my closet.

My boyfriend was a Roman gladiator.

I did not buy any makeup for this look. The palette I used is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and I focused on the purples, plums, and the deeper browns for a really intense smoky eye. I used the same purple lip liner I used on my lips to create the electric shocks under my eyes (so it looks like I’m looking into the future). My lipstick is Too Faced Drop Dead Red. Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

OOTD ~ San Genarro Feast, NYC

I know this post is a little late, but who cares. I just want to share my simple outfit I wore to the feast. It was really humid and about 80 degrees so I wore something I would be comfortable in.

I kept my makeup very light since I was going to be outside all day. I didn’t want a heavy face in such hot weather. Personally, I don’t like full coverage or a matte look, and I don’t really care if my acne scarring is still showing a bit. So I am wearing a little Lancome powder foundation, Maybelline mascara, cream blush from The Body Shop, Milk hilighter, and matte Lancome lipstick in Red Haute.

For my mother’s birthday, my family and I went to Catch NYC, which is a trendy restaurant in Manhattan. Anyone who visits the big city and is looking for a really nice dinner spot, I recommend Catch.

I decided to wear a very simple black outfit (my favorite color to wear) with my clementine disco bag. It was a pretty warm day, so I sported my new favorite summer hairstyle, which is a tight, clean topknot.

This picture was taken at the One World Observatory, where we went to before dinner.
